Prolapse - symptoms and treatment
After childbirth, the uterus or vaginal walls can descend and protrude into the vaginal opening, a condition known as prolapse.
The symptoms you experience depend on the type of prolapse you have.
The most common sensation is a feeling of heaviness and discomfort in the pelvic area. You may also have difficulty urinating and having bowel movements.
However, sometimes prolapse may have no symptoms at all. If you have no discomfort, no treatment is necessary.

Prolapse is usually harmless but can feel uncomfortable. For most people, it gets better within a year after giving birth.
Here are a few things you can do to relieve discomfort from prolapse:
Exercise your pelvic floor with Kegel exercises, for example, using LEIA Health´s 6-week Kegel training program.
Avoid constipation.
Contract your pelvic floor when lifting or exerting yourself.
Avoid jumping, running, and heavy lifting until you've strengthened your pelvic floor.
Seek medical attention at a healthcare center or gynecological clinic if you experience severe symptoms or have difficulty urinating or having bowel movements. You can also contact a physiotherapist for assistance with pelvic floor exercises.
